Older ONS series: Ultra low sulphur/Unleaded petrol, per litre (ended January 2025)
Before the shopping prices tool, ONS published a separate average price for petrol as part of the RPI. That series ran from February 1990 to January 2025 and is no longer updated. It measured a slightly different item ("Ultra low sulphur/Unleaded petrol, per litre"), was published in pence and was collected differently, so it is shown separately and should not be joined to the new figures above.
38p in February 1990; 137p in January 2025, when the series ended.
